This adventure takes your around Nordoyar - the northern isles (Kalsoy, Kunoy, Bordoy, Vidoy and Svinoy) which are an amazing collection of long thin islands, vast mountains and the most amazing views. Dubbed “the flute” because of its thin shape  Kalsoy offers truly astonishing views. With 13 peaks, 11 valleys, and four villages with a combined population of less than 150, this island is the perfect place to go exploring. The hike to the lighthouse at Kallur, the northern tip of Kalsoy, is particularly impressive. Kalsoy also has a rich birdlife, including puffins, storm petrels and black guillemots.  The Vagar in the westernmost reaches of the archipelago and home to the Mulafossur waterfall in the tiny village of Gasadalur. You will witness sea stacks and cliffs that look like something out of Lord of the Rings. This 10 days Sail, Hike Explore adventure will leave you spellbound. A 400 nm offshore passage from Faroe Islands to Bergen, Norway. We are likely to spend 1-2 days cruising the Faroe Islands, before setting off on the offshore passage to Bergen. Great opportunity to practise weather routing, passage planning and passage making, while sailing offshore in a watch system. Suitable for all experience levels, competent crew and above. This 9 days offshore adventure is a good introduction to offshore sailing in watch system, gaining plenty of miles for your log book.

We start in the historic Viking city of Bergen, making our way north as we sail up to Sognefjord, the longest fjord in the world. We’ll sail east through the Sognefjord, exploring as we go. Most likely sailing by day and staying over in one of the many beautiful Norwegian coastal villages by night. But there won’t really be a night to speak of, as it never gets dark at this latitude at this time of year. if weather & time permit we will sail all the way up Sognefjorden to the bottom of Aurlandsfjord and the port of Flåm, before heading west back to Bergen, exploring the places we missed on the way in. Winds will be variable and change often. Generally, the wind will follow the direction of the fjord, being either west or east. So it will be a dead run or tacking. Temperatures will be ranging from 10-20ºC. June is generally pretty dry, but occasional rain showers are possible.

This is a spectacular offshore passage with opportunities for stopovers underway to explore fjords of Norway’s west coast. Sheltered anchorages and jagged peaks greet you in Lofoten Island with time to explore this Arctic paradise. . This will be a masterclass in weather routing and strategy and there are many options to choose from - both offshore and inshore as we are likely to do parts of the trip inshore, stopover on any of the many islands in the Norwegian Sea, and cruise the Lofoten Archipelagos with any remaining days. We could see some heavy weather on this one, but we’ll always have the option to escape inshore and the strongest winds will most likely be from behind us.

Every day, we anchor somewhere new, and there is walking and exploring unmatched anywhere else we sail, with stunning views of the surrounding coast. The ocean crossing will most likely be 6-7 days with the remaining time spent cruising the Faroe Islands on end of the trip. A true viking adventure to the volcanic Faroes Islands from the stunning west coast of Norway. We start in Lofoten, one of the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world. UNESCO World Heritage listed, this patch of the Norwegian coast will take your breath away. When the weather window is right, we then set sail south for the 600 nm offshore passage in the volcanic archipelago of the Faroe Islands, en route, we mark the unique milestone of crossing the Arctic Circle at sea. We will make landfall on the northern islands and should have a few days to explore.

On this offshore passage, we will cross the Norwegian sea from Faroe Islands to Shetland. These islands are all truly magical places and good stops over options, when planning our offshore passage and managing weather windows. We are likely to get following winds for the majority of this offshore passage.

This 9 days adventure starts on west coast of Shetland with a short passage to the Fair Isle, where we will stop for 1-2 nights,( weather permitting), before sailing to the Orkney islands. On arrival to Orkney Islands, we will be spending any remaining days exploring the northern islands, before finishing the adventure in Kirkwall, home to the Highland Park Whiskey.

The adventure starts in Kirkwall, home to the Highland Park whiskey distillery. From Kirkwall we will head north exploring the northern islands of Eday, Sanday and Westray - The hike on Westray to the Noup Head lighthouse is amazing and a must do hike. After exploring the northern isles, we will head south to Scapa flow and the Italian chapel, built by Italian POWs during the 2nd WW. Trip will end in Stromness. This 9 days adventure covers some of the best cruising that Scotland has to offer, from the viking islands of Orkney to the Magical western Scottish isles. Follow in the wake of the Vikings as we set sails with the tide from Stromness on a overnight offshore passage around Cape Wrath to the Scotland’s western Isles. In the western isles, we will mostly day sail, stopping in a new place every day with time to explore onshore. We are spoiled for choice of stop-overs: Stornoway, Shiant Islands, Plockton, Isle of Skye, the small islands of Eigg, Canna, Muck & Rum are all possible stops on our way towards Tobermory on the the isle of Mulll and our final destination Oban, the seafood capital of Scotland. Suitable for all experience levels: Novice, competent crew and above.

Situated off the west coast of Scotland, the tiny and largely uninhabited islands of the inner Hebrides have jaw-dropping scenery and it is an area wonderfully rich in history and wildlife.  By day the sailing is sheltered, with flat water. In the evenings there are remote, magical anchorages, Lochs, where we can buy fresh mussels and small habitations with homely pubs and wonderful hiking. Expect to see seals and have dolphins playing by the bow of the yacht and maybe even see some minke whales or a basking shark. The Crinan Canal ( depends on water levels) At just nine miles long, the canal links Loch Fyne at Ardrishaig with the Sound of Jura, creating a route for us through the Kintyre Peninsula.  Known as ‘Britain’s most beautiful shortcut’, the Crinan Canal offers magnificent scenery and wildlife. This passage usually starts with W or SW winds, so we will be reaching until we get the northern winds from the smooth Portuguese trade winds, that will take us south to the Azores Islands. It’s a true offshore passage with all drills and procedures of Atlantic Ocean sailing, a fantastic miniature Atlantic crossing. There will be plenty of opportunities to learn about weather routing and passage strategy, as finding the perfect window for the crossing will require some skill. We are likely to spend a few days cruising along the Irish SW coast down to the iconic Fastnet rock. The ocean passage will most likely be 8-9 days with the remaining time spent cruising and exploring the Azores. If the passage is swift, then we will have the opportunity to make a stop over in Terceira to explore onshore, before pushing on to our final destination - Horta on the island of Faial, Azores

The Azores high is usually located south of the Azores in June & July making the predominant wind direction just north of the Azores SW or W, which should make it possible for us to make a direct course for Newfoundland and St John’s, our port of destination. Icebergs may pose a risk this early in the summer, especially once we reach the area of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland - So Radar on! Good opportunity to sharpen your Radar skills. Depending on the weather window, we will spend a few days cruising around Horta, getting to know the yacht, before setting off.

Newfoundland is off the beaten track with its remote & secluded anchorages, small fishing communities and lots of wildlife. Icebergs may pose a risk this early in the summer, especially once we reach the area around Labrador, so good chance to practice the use of Radar. Great opportunity to get off the grid and live on an expedition sailing yacht.

Lawrence to the Magdalen Islands. After exploring the Magdalen islands, we will mainly do day sails. We will visit a few ports on Cape Breton Island (Nova Scotia) on our way to Charlottetown on Prince Edward’s island.

Setting off from Rockland, we may anchor one night at the islands in Maine, before going offshore south across the Gulf of Maine (wait for the right weather window). We will sail Penobscot Bay, The Gulf Of Maine, Massachusetts Bay, The Cape Cod Canal, and Narragansett Bay to our final destination, Newport. We will have options for potential stops – Gloucester, Provincetown, Martha’s Vineyard. There may even be whale sightings near Stellwagon Bank.

This passage will be a masterclass in weather routing and strategy as there are many options to choose from going south around Cape Hatteras and crossing the Gulf Stream. We will spend a few days transiting challenging waters with lots of commercial traffic, before reaching the Atlantic Ocean. Experience the offshore routine, commercial traffic, ocean waves, strong currents, rapidly shifting weather and working in a shift system. Keeping a good lookout and staying focused, while on watch is imperative.

This passage will be a masterclass in weather routing and strategy. We will spend a few days cruising and enjoying Bahamas - getting used to the yacht and waiting for the right weather window. Experience the offshore routine, Atlantic ocean waves, strong currents, rapidly shifting weather and working in a shift system. Keeping a good lookout and staying focused , while on watch is imperative.
